Data Science: The day to day version

The perception of the Data Science profession is all about math and algorithms. This common opinion is riddled with myths and mis-perceptions. In the talk, I plan to call out some of those myths providing simple examples and illustrations. In the end I hope you will come out with a more realistic understanding of what it is to be a Data Scientist in practice, in my mind at least, an even better profession than the common public perception.

Short Bio
Doron Shaked received his BSc from the Ben Gurion University in 1988. MSc. and DSc. from the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology in 1991 and 1995 respectively.
From 1995 to 2016 he has been with Hewlett Packard Laboratories Israel in Haifa, where as a principal researcher he led multi-talented research teams on automating printing technologies, image enhancement, automated inspection, and operational data mining. From 2017 to 2018 he was with General Electric’s Global Research Center, and since 2019 he is Director – Data & Analytics at GE HealthCare, leading teams developing Artificial Intelligence pipelines and features for Ultrasound scanners.
